We will be opening 4 days in Cinque Terre next May. Think of day trip to Portovenere by boat. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you very much. Karen Sortino

We did this in 2005 so I can't give you any current information. With that said, it was a lovely boat ride and Portovenere was a welcome break from the crowds of the 5 Towns. I loved eating at one of the touristy places on the waterfront, where we shared the two most delicious sandwiches of our entire trip to Italy and Switzerland. After 12 years, I still think about them! The views of the Apuan Alps in the distance were an added bonus. I would definitely do it again.

Trayla is right: great trip! Check locally for boat times. They may not run if seas or winds are high. On a bright day, it is a fabulous trip. Here is some current info from the blog A Path to Lunch. Also see Things to See in Portovenere.
