Day trip from Florence to Ferrari / Lamborghini museums

Though it's on my husband's bucket list, a one-day trip via train or rental car to and from Florence to the Ferrari and/or Lambo museums seems difficult/challenging.

Is there a reputable tour that leaves from and returns to Florence same-day?

We'll be visiting in April 2018.

I don’t know about tours from Florence but there are many that originate from Bologna, a 35 minute train ride away. You might want to check Attractions on Trip Advisor to see reviews. At Ferrari there are two separate tours (not including a driving experience). Tour operators offer different combinations of tours. Train service is frequent from early morning till late night. Here are two well-rated options:

To Ferrari by public transport: Some morning trains from Firenze SMN station to Modena take as little as 1h 10m with a connection at Bologna. Direct trains are slower. Try to time your arrival so that you can start with the dedicated shuttle bus to the more comprehensive museum in Maranello first. E.g., depart Florence at 8:00 to comfortably catch the first bus at 9:40. Note that the lunchtime Factory Tour at Maranello does not go inside any buildings - it's a narrated bus ride around the campus and onto the test track. Then return via the Modena museum, which is not far from the train station.

We hired a private driver for the day who took us to both museums. It wasn't cheap but at least we didn't have to drive but you could rent a car for the day.

thank you for the info. i'll be looking into those tours out of Bologna. We don't really want to go the rental car route.
