Day Trip from Florence?

Hello:

I am planning a trip for my husband and me to Italy (Rome, Venice, Florence) in August and needed suggestions for the Florence portion. We will be in Florence for 3 days. I was hoping we could do a day/half day trip to somewhere in Tuscany (I was thinking one of the following: Siena, San Gimignano, or Greve in Chianti). However, I want to be sure I am able to go to the Uffizi, the duomo, and the Accademia. Has anyone on here done something similar in terms of time frame?

Of the three you mentioned, Siena would be the most crowded, Greve the least. August is when the second Palio happens in Siena; it'd be a madhouse. Consider Greve or San Gimignano. Alternately, Lucca would be great. Easy to get to by train, the famous city wall ramparts, more relaxed atmosphere.
