Day Trip from Florence

Hi,

We are visiting Italy in June and are thinking of doing a shorter day trip from Florence. We will have the day from 8:30am to 4:00pm since we will be visiting the academia at 7:15pm. We are not against renting a car if it will save time or make it easier.

Would it be possible to do both Pisa and San Gimignano with the time we have or will it be too rushed? Otherwise are there any winery’s or farms that are good to stop and get a tour instead of San Gimignano?

You could do both with an early start. I would suggest San Gimignano first as it is the most travel effort by train and a bus. Then onto Pisa. Pisa to Florence is only about an hour train back to Florence.
