Day trip from Bologna on a Sunday?

I will be on a tour through Northern Italy which gives me a free day in Bologna on a Sunday in early October 2017. I spent a week in Bologna 3 years ago, so I'm looking for ideas on how to spend that day. So far, my research is showing that many tours in the area are not offered on a Sunday. I'm comfortable taking the train by myself. Any ideas?

Florence, Modena, Reggio, Parma, Ferrara, Ravenna.
All within 45 min by train.
If you are willing to stay on the train 45 min longer, even Venice is within range

Be sure to check the train schedules carefully. I found that trains from Bologna to the day trip destinations mentioned by Roberto often left at, say, 8:30 (earlier than I'd like) and 10:30 (later than I'd like), but not in between. To avoid getting to a town with minimal time before attractions closed for lunch, I'd have to get that 8:30 train.

If you haven't been to Ravenna or Ferrara, those would be my top two picks, but Parma was also very nice, and you can see Modena on the way back from Parma if you wish.
