does anyone have a preference between Gubbio, Spello and Perugia. We are wanting to visit one of these towns for the day. thanks

Spello is quite small. I enjoyed Gubbio more. Haven't ventured into Perugia yet, so cannot compare it to the others.

Spello is nice; we used it for a base. But as was said, it is small and I'm not sure you'll find a days worth of activities there. I'd recommend Perugia; big piazza, museums in and around the hilltop, some nice places to eat. They've added a gondola from near the train station up to the top since we visited, so you might want to look into that if you're going by train.

We did a day trip to Gubbio while we were staying in Perugia and we loved it. Perugia was very nice too, but I loved the small town feel of Gubbio. It seemed very different from every other place we've visited. I'd love to go back.
