Day tours of Amalfi Coast from Sorrento

We will be traveling to Italy this year and will be staying in Sorrento we want to hire a private driver for a tour of the coast and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I keep seeing Viator everywhere but I'm not sure if that's a good deal or not.

Much thanks,

Mary

We used Sorrento Siver Star for our tour of the Amalfi Coast. here They pick you up at your hotel. It was a wonderful tour.

Hi Mary---I wish I were going with you. Last May we took an unforgettable trip to Italy which included the Amalfi Coast. While we stayed in Salerno, we found that the ferry system was a great way to explore the coast without the cost of a private driver. Viewing the coast from the water was breathtaking. Ferries depart and arrive at Salerno, Alamfi, Positano, and Sorrento. As much as we loved staying in Salerno, the villages of Amalfi and Positano are more charming. I hope that you will include the village of Ravello in your tour. It sits above the village of Amalfi and offers breathtaking views. It was one of our favorite spots. Rick has a special snapshot guidebook for Naples and the Amalfi Coast that would give you a lot of info on private drivers he recommends. Have a wonderful trip!

Rick recommends the Monetti family for taxi tours and says they have been serving his readers for decades (page 1100 of the 2016 Italy book.) Their website is www.monettitaxi17.it. You have to email or call them to arrange a tour. They will understand and respond in English. We will be using them in a few weeks for a trip down the coast and to Paestum.

My wife and I had a tour with Max from Maxitours and it was fabulous. Max is born and raise in Sorrento and knows the area well

I'll second Sorrento Silver Star. We were staying in Atrani, and he picked us up there promptly at 8am, took us to Ravello, around 'the back way' past Naples to Sorrento, also stopped in Positano. You can tailor the day to your wants to a certain extent. It was pricey, but there were 3 of us and the air conditioned Mercedes felt very good to get back into after the hot day. And my mom told me it was the favourite part of her trip, so that made the cost worth it.

A third recommendation for Silver Star. We had a great experience in 2012. Picked us up at hotel, beautiful drive along Amalfi coast. Wonderful service

Viator is a booking agent not a tour operator.

Thanks for all of the great responses it's nice to have other places to book through rather than the VIator option I don't really like using a booking service like that. We are still trying to decide which one but it will be a wonderful way to enjoy the coast. We would also like to to take a boat tour (not an entire day) but to get out in the water and be able to get photos of and see the beauty of Amalfi from the water. We can't afford another full day trip so just something simple. Any suggestions?

We took the ferry over to Capri! I absolutely loved Capri. We took a tour around the island once we were there. Our ferry left right from the dock in Sorrento. Once you land in Capri you will see all types of boat tours operators. We took the simple tour using Motoscafisti Capri but I'm sure you could book a tour that allows beach time. Magical place!

For the coastal cruise, I'd just take one of the ferries from Sorrento to Amalfi and back. Personally, I don't think Capri is as nice a view from the water as Amalfi and Positano.
