Has anyone used a tour company they'd recommend for a day trip to the hill country (Siena, etc)from Florence?

I wouldn't do a tour. Instead why not rise early, take the one-hour bus from the SITA station next to Santa Maria Novella train station, and spend the whole day in Siena, returning in the evening?

We booked a day trip to Siena and San Gimignano through Expedia.com. It was great. The guide was very informative and it was a lovely trip.
