day tours

This senior citizen finally gets a first trip to Europe. I am fortunate enough to have a relative in Milan so have a place to stay. We will day trip via the train from there. We are going on April 1 but just now realized that it would be best to join day tour groups since our time in each place is limited and I think it would be more efficient for learning/seeing as much as we can. I am looking for suggestions for Venice to start with. We are traveling with a friend who has some mobility issues so that is a factor as well. I see a variety of tour organizations. Anyone have any specific ones to look into or criteria to judge by? We'll start with Venice suggestions. It' s a bit overwhelming. Thanks in advance.

Welcome!

Venice is too far as a day trip from Milan. It's a 2.5 hour fast train ride each way. That's 5 + hours in transit when you add in time to get to/from stations.

How many nights do you have for this trip?

If Venice is a must then give it the time it needs and deserves- stay 2 nights. Those that only visit for a few hours mid day usually end up hating Venice. You would be ther with all the day trip crowds.
