Day Tour from Rome to Amalfi Coast?

I will be in Rome in early October and am looking for recommendations on a tour company that does day tours to the Amalfi coast. I have seen some listed on Viator, Avventure Bellissime, Presto Tours, etc and they all sound good/have the same itinerary. However, I've also seen some reviews that are less than stellar. Given that these tours carry a hefty price and a significant time commitment (14 hours), I'm hoping that someone out there might have either a recommendation to use (or a recommendation to AVOID) a particular company. Thanks in advance for any help!

That doesn't sound like a real satisfying day trip. Its about a three hour train trip just to get to Sorrento from Rome. You could go by high speed and cut that time by quite a bit to around an hour to Naples I think. The last hour is on a crazy local train with 30+ stops between Naples and Sorrento. Not sure how long by car or bus but I think it is about the same. So in addition to all the travel time, spending so little time in the towns on the coast would be really frustrating. I would personally recommend staying a night or two in Sorrento and visit the other coastal towns the next day. You could use the bus out of Sorrento to get to the Amalfi and skip the tour companies.

I agree with previous poster. We did a day trip from Rome to Pompeii once and that was a long day with the double train rides. On a return trip we went from Naples to the Amalfi coast areas you are talking about (Sorrento & Capri). That was a full day and could have been more. My suggestion would be to spend a night or two in Sorrento and explore everything from there as opposed to the day trip idea.
