Day in Venice itinierary

We will be in Venice for 3 nights. For our first full day we have St. Mark's tickets for 9:30 am. We are considering booking the Secret Itineraries tour for the Doge's Palace at 1 pm the same day.

For those who have done both is this schedule too tight? We'd have to eat a quick lunch in between and will have tweens with us. Would it be better to do them on separate days?

I think that timing is fine
You could spend 90 min in the Basilica and still plenty of time for lunch- just grab a panini nearby

Secret Itineraries is a great tour by the way

We did both, although in reverse order. The Secret Itineraries tour was very good. Your schedule should be just fine. And, because both sites are on St. Mark's Square, there's no "travel" involved.

I agree the timing works out fine. The entry for timed tickets at St Mark's is easy to find... and should be particularly easy since you have tickets at opening time. You'll have plenty of time for lunch and then the Secret Itineraries tour. Like Christine, I really liked the Secret Itineraries tour.

I also agree that the timing is fine. What time of year? We had first morning St. Mark's tickets, as well. We got there early, maybe a half hour? to be first in.

Just wanted to add this and you may already be aware

Read the Basilica entrance requirements very carefully-only very small bags are allowed (if any?) and both men and women must have shoulders and knees covered

They are very very strict
