Day in Cinque Terre

We are spending a day in the Cinque Terre next month and would love if anyone would like to share their "must sees" in the area. We'd like to potentially see all 5 CT areas, if possible, but wondered if there were any hidden gems we don't want to miss.

Thanks in advance!

It seems unlikely you'll be able to comfortably, or enjoyably, see all 5 CT villages in one day. Why not pick less than all of them? Or give yourself another day and then you can see all of them?
In European travel, less is sometimes more.
Most of the travelers posting here seem to give the CT at least 2 days.

Other than hiking and visiting a few churches, the villages themselves are the attraction.

It would help if you'd clarify what "a day" is? Are you staying 2 nights in a CT village and so have 1 FULL day to explore the region or are you coming in for the day from another location, such as Florence?

It would also help to know what sort of sightseeing you intend to do? Not every visitor is a hiker so while some folks might spend a chunk of the day on the trails, you might just want to see a bit of each village.

In either case, I think it would be a stretch to give the 5 of them the attention them deserve in one day, even though they are very small and really don't have much that are "hidden". If you haven't read about the crowds during high season, that's a good idea so you know what you might expect.

There is cat refuge on the hiking trail between Monterosso and Vernazza.
Vernazza is very nice when the sun setting and the day trip tourists gone

I have the same questions as Kathy. It would be helpful to have more information on your plans. Are you going there as a day trip from somewhere else? How much time will you have to explore the five towns? Are you planning to do any hiking or just use the local trains to get between towns?

Thank you, all.

We are doing a day trip from Milan. We're arriving shortly after 9 am via train and will be departing, also via train, at 6 pm. At this point, we aren't planning on doing any hiking but rather travel between the villages on the train.
