Day Backpack & Crossbody Purses in Museums.

Hey travel friends,

I am traveling to Italy and Greece this year (2022) and was looking for some updated information regarding backpacks and purses. Everyone keeps mentioning small backpacks are allowed in some locations and not at all in others. My son will be carrying a very small backpack ( 30.5 x 23 x 15.5 CM) and it looks like a backpack. I will be using a crossbody purse/bag (32 x 28 x 12 CM), as you can see my crossbody purse/bag is bigger than my son's. Will there be an issue bringing these bags into the museums and sites?

We are using them to put cameras in so we don't have them around our necks ALL day.

Thanks for any feedback/advice.

Backpacks are not allowed worn on the back because it's too easy to bump a statue or brush a painting. Some places, they can be worn on one shoulder, but many museums offer locker storage.

Agree that you can't wear the backpack on your back. But whether or not you can wear it on one shoulder depends on the museum. They really are all different. You could check individual websites and see if they say. But if they don't allow them they will almost definitely have lockers. And so what is your alternative. You will still need the backpack/cross body bags for the rest of the day.
