Day 8 of 20 day trip

Hi everyone, I am going to find all of my other threads as well and try to post an update...we are on day 8 of our trip in Italy. We just landed in Naples (train from Pompeii). Here all day tomorrow...leaving on high speed rail to Rome around 8 pm tomorrow night. So far...walking to our hotel from train station in Naples...oh boy. Pretty gritty. We are trying to plan our day for tomorrow. Considering Capri, but there are six of us and that can be a pretty pricey trip. Oh...and I "threw out my back" this morning. Chronic back problem so I've been here before. But Pompeii almost killed me. I can only barely shuffle around and just have a lot of pain. I've dealt with it before do I'm determined to forge through, but crowds and heat don't help. But I'm in Italy!! I can do this. I want to enjoy every second.

I hope you stay in Naples tomorrow and enjoy it....it does grow on you if you give it a chance. The waterfront (Margellina and Chiaia districts) are lovely so perhaps you can walk down there. My favorite is the convent up in the Vomero District - "Certosa di San Martino". Stunning views from the convent over the entire bay and of Vesuvius. You can also see the gorgeous churches along Spaccanapoli and the Archeological Museum. Drop by some cafes and have some sfogliatelle or baba cake.

I always walk to my hotel, and yes, the area looks a little gritty. But I am confident that the street vendors and shopkeepers are sort of the "neighborhood watch".

Go to a pharmacy for your pain. Magic pills, trust me on this.

Well! We stayed in Naples for the day. LOTS of walking and we saw a big portion of the city. Thank you for the suggestion of the convent viewpoint. It was unbelievable. Now we have one more (short) day in Rome and then on to Barcelona. Sad to say goodbye to Italy. But excited for Spain! IF I go to a pharmacy for pain pills for my back (yes...I'm still shuffling along in a bit of pain), what do I ask for?

Thank you again to everyone who has helped us along our trip.

Just describe your symptoms and any allergies you may have. An erborista would be a naturopathic alternative to a farmacia.
