Hi all. I tried to find a post on this topic, but couldn't find one that exactly fit my needs.
I'm going to Rome in September for about 3 weeks and I was wondering if someone could give me an idea on how much per day I might need. We are staying with friends so no need for accomodation expenses. I've already factored in transportation (a.k.a. bus pass). The issue is I plan to live more like a local, than a tourist, so I'm not really factoring in museums and what not. Just everyday expenses (buying and preparing meals, etc). Any suggestions?
Monique - I'm afraid there is no one good answer. You could budget for coffee and pastry in the morning, a sandwich and pizza for lunch and a dish of of pasta and a glass of wine for dinner - maybe 25 Euro for the day. Are you asking for bare bones? It really depends on how much you want to eat in restaurants.
You can live out of grocery stores and take-away.
I know it's a hard question for people to answer. I'm not looking for bare bones so to speak, but I do want to treat it more like home. I don't eat in restaraunts often here. I was going to budget between $25-$30/day, but then I thought about it and it sounds like so much. After all, I don't spend that much on food everyday here. So that's where my confusion is.
Haha for 3 weeks in Rome? I'd say it's worth it :-)
