I know others have posted about Culture Week, but I have a specific questionI understand that there are special events/concerts and such (I read about flag throwing somewhere)...has anyone successfully found an itinerary/schedule for any events specifically in the Florence area.

I wrote to the Bed and Breakfasts we stayed at in Florence and in Rome, asking for info about it. Our Rome B&B wrote back and gave me some links: one of them has a link within it for several cities, Florence included. Both links are in Italian; I myself couldn't find any English version. If you don't know any Italian, www.wordreference.com is helpful, and I hear people talking about "google translate".
