My wife and I will heading to Italy for a wedding in Amalfi, 2010. We are wanting to do 10 days of exploring before the wedding (arrive 9/23 and leave 10/2. We are both outdoors kind of people and enjoy the adventure/scenery more so than cities usually in the states. However, we are trying to make a memorable trip. I am thinking open jaw flight originating in Nice, Milan or Pissa and ending out of Naples after the wedding. Areas we would like to focus on are CT, Florence/Tuscany, Rome and Naples/Amalfi coast. What is the best location to fly into in your opinion with the shortest/most efficient yet productive train ride to CT. Any other suggestions, ideas, etc. on the trip, stops, starts would be great.

Delta goes from JFK to Pisa direct, no? That would be the closest you could start to the CT.
