CT Quad Rooms

I found this hotel after much searching, Palace Hotel in Levanto that has quad rooms. Quads are seemingly hard to come by (especially in CT and CT area). Has anyone stayed here? We are looking to go next July and I noticed it doesn't have AC. Being along the coast is AC necessary? The hotel's website mentions thick walls and that helps keep the place cool, but I'm a little skeptical. Any other recommendations for Quads in the CT area (including Levanto).
Thanks

We stayed at an apartment owned by Hotel La Colonnina in Monterosso and loved it. I know they also have quad rooms.

Thanks Laura. How was the apartment? Can it accommodate 4 people? Was it part of the hotel's grounds or was it separate? Was it quiet? Any view? Anything you can tell me would be helpful.

To give some perspective I am traveling with my wife and our two sons (12 & 9).

The apartment was a few doors down from the hotel up a few flights of stairs. It doesn't look like much from the outside but was actually one of the nicest places we stayed in Italy.

Two bedrooms - 1 with queen bed and other with 2 singles. It was clean, quiet, beds were comfortable, small kitchen and kind of an odd living room with only two chairs (looked like it could be turned into another bedroom). We didn't really use it as we were rarely there. Floors were all marble with no rugs (cold on the feet!) The view was only from the bedrooms out into the little street and it was actually somewhat dark in the apartment. We did make use of the hotel's roof top terrace which had a great view.

I think the drawback for you would be that I don't believe it has not have air conditioning (but you can double check) and since we were there just a few weeks ago in mid May it was not needed but July could be another story. I do know they have quad rooms in the hotel though with air conditioning and I think some have terraces. Breakfast is not included with the apartment but is with the rooms.

We liked the location - in the old part of town within walking distance of the sandy beach which your boys would love (hotel will provide beach towels). We stayed 3 nights and could easily have stayed 3 more. The town actually does have some traffic but very little and is the most level of the 5. We loved every minute of our stay.

Hi Martin... I think that Tonino Basso has a quad room. His rooms are at the top of the hill in Vernazza and are air-conditioned, have a computer , and are lovely.... no View. He does book up way in advance , though.

Hotel Villa Steno in Monterosso al Mare has at least one quad room.

La Marina Rooms in Vernazza has a 2-bdr apartment that sleeps four, right over the water. I doubt that it has A/C (other than a cooling sea breeze), but you could ask.

I looked up Marina Rooms and saw the apt and it looks nice. I've emailed Christian about it.

Thanks all for your help.

I tried to book La Marina's apt. with the stone terrace for our 4 night visit to the C.T. in July 2009 and it was already booked. That terrace and view looks amazing! We booked rms through Francamaria's and they were very nice with a great harbor view and hardly any steps. For our last night we had to move to the apartment (we knew this at booking) which was a few steps from rm. 1 and also with a harbor/square view. Loved hearing the waves slap up against the rocks. Not much a/c in the C.T. but have visited here 3x and have always slept well without it. In fact when we were here mid-July last summer we put light jackets on in the evening. Go for the apt. with the stone terrace! Buon Viaggio!

Janet -

That's exactly the apt we saw and the balcony looked amazing! How far in advance did you try booking.

I've also seen the Francamarie rooms and was concerned about noise and heat (no AC) in July. It looks like the room (looking at #1) is right above a bar(?)/restaurant(?).
