CT decent room without hundreds of steps?

Don't laugh...please. I do know where I'm going!

I'm looking for room recommendations that don't require as many steps, but yet are still quiet.

Thanks.

Hi Elizabeth. I wanted the same thing! Monterosso would be a good choice because it's fairly flat & there are more restaurants, etc. We stayed in a great hotel in the old town section called Hotel Margherita. The rooms were modern, clean and comfortable and the room rate included a wonderful breakfast buffet. The hotel had an elevator and we did not have to climb any steps to enter the hotel or our room. The rooms were quiet too. You can look at the reviews on Trip Advisor. Have a great trip.

In July 2009 we stayed in Vernazza at Francamaria's rooms which is in the R.S. book. If you are looking for rooms without steps I don't think you can beat Francamaria's. We had Room 1 which looks out over the harbor and I think will sleep 4. We had 3 in this room and we loved the harbor view! Refrig. didn't work in this room. Room 2 is right next to rm. 1 but sleeps only 2 I think, again a harbor view. She also has other rooms available. Our group also had room 3 which is just a few steps down the street from 1 and 2. Rm 3 was very nice and would sleep 4 I believe and has a ceiling fan. Refrig. worked in rm. 3 to chill our C.T. wine. There are a flight of steps up to rooms 3, 4 and 5 but not bad. We had to move to the apartment, room 6B for our last night. Refrig. did not cool in 6b. This is just across from the door that leads to rms. 3, 4, and 5. It says it is a room on the website but it is an apartment with 2 bedrooms and also overlooks the harbor but not as good a view as room 1. Francamaria's had oscillating fans in room 1 and 6b but the weather was stunning and we didn't even need them. In fact several evenings we put on jackets! As far as quiet--if you close the windows that would help but we had them partially open and the church bells will ding in the a.m. Besides who wants to sleep in here! Stayed at another place in Vernazza on a trip there in 2006 but won't recommend that place. Check out the rooms at www.francamaria.com Let me know if you need more info. When are you going? Have a great trip!

Definitely try Francamaria rooms. Try to get #1 or 2. Both are great rooms, and the noise is only a problem if you let it be. Late night noise was limited, and early morning noise a good reason to get up and see the city when it was waking! Enjoy! Jeff

We also stayed at Francamaria and liked it. We must have had room 5 or 6 without a view. It was clean with a large bed (perhaps twins together making a king), nice bathroom, and quiet with the exception of some cats fighting on the walkway outside our room. The steps up were not bad and we would stay there again.

I, too, have stayed at Franacamaria. I ma trying again for May, but they have not answered my reservation form, or 4 emails. Anyone else have this problem?
