Arriving from the US the day before our cruise leaves from Civitavecchia, which is about 90 minutes from Rome. Would like to stay nearer the port than Rome and am looking for suggestions, 3 Starish type hotel. Would like to hear from anyone with suggestions, also on the best way to transport the 90 min. from FCO to the port area. Thank you!

I am sure there are places to stay around Civitavecchia but think it would be easier to stay in Rome, enjoy an evening in the city, and then take a train to the port. It is a commuter run (3X/hour) and take between 45 and an hour 15 depending on stops and costs 4,5E. We done it twice, It is simple and convenient.
