Our cruise docks in Messina, Sicily from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm. Is there sufficient public transportation for us to do our our tour of Taomina or should we sign up for the Cruise Line tour?

Hi Kathleen. Tom provided a great website (wish I had known about that a few years ago when we made this same trip!) The only thing I would add is that you might want to purchase your return ticket on the train while you're still in Messina. The station at Giardini-Naxos is quite small, and the manned ticket booth is often closed. They do have machines where you can buy a ticket, but these can be non-operational (as we experienced.) It's certainly a good way to spend the day. Hope you have a great trip!
