Trying to decide between going to Florence or renting a car and touring Tuscany. Opions please. We will be in port from 8AM to 7PM.

Hi Jen - I've had probably 35 cars waiting for me at the gangway in Livorno over the past 25 years. Very easy to do - No reason to be afraid - Hertz and Avis International will have a specific car there waiting for you as you disembark. Mapquest directions to wherever you want to go - My choices are actually Cinque Terre, San Gimignano and Volterra, or Lucca and Viareggio - All a whole lot of fun!!! Do obtain an IDP from a local AAA office here before you go to accompany your U.S. Drivers license. As far as Florence goes, more difficult driving a vehicle within the city with it's off limit areas.
