Our cruise stops in Catania Sicily for a 9 AM to 7 PM day. We have never been to Catania. Can anyone tell me what the "must sees" are in Catania. And how easy is to get from the cruise teminal to main attractions? We bought Ricks Mediterranean Cruise Ports book, but it doesn't cover Sicily. Thanks. Hugh
I was there last month and we used Mario of "Sicily with Mario." I can't say enough good stuff about him and his brother! They picked us up, took us to the wonderful little hilltop town of Castelmolo, where we ate lunch, then we toured Taormina a little lower on the mountain. The views of Mt. Etna were amazing. He was also going to take us into Catania but we ran out of time as we were only there from 12-5. You could have a really great tour with the extra time! There were four of us and we paid 60 euros per person. By far the best cruise excursion we have taken!
Hugh, I'm trying to reply to your private message but everytime I fill in my password, it sends me back "To the Boot." This website definitely has a problem with that. Anyway, to the best of my knowledge, "Sicily with Mario" is also the name of his website. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll find you his e-mail. You will love Sicily after this trip!
