Cruise Port in La Spezia

Does anyone know the best way to get from the cruise port in La Spezia to the train station. We want to spend our day in port in the Cinqueterre and I see that the port is several miles from the station.

Can we purchase our Cinqueterre Treno tickets at the La Spezia train station?

Has anyone ever visited the vineyards in the Cinqueterre like Rick Steves? We've spent a lot of time in the Cinqueterre but have never done that. Sounds like a blast.

We are doing that as well this summer and will probably take a taxi to the train station, although we might walk depending on time - seems to be about 1-1.5 miles and a 20 min walk based on my research, although I haven't actually done it yet.

Our plan is to take the train to Riomaggiore and then take the ferry boat up to Vernazza, then on to Monterosso and spend some time there having lunch and at the beach.

Looks like the train only leaves at 8:12, 9:51, 10:06, 11:10 - although that is for a day next week, I don't know if it switches up in the summer, but has been those times only for the months I have been checking. Our plan is to get there for the 9:51 or 10:06. We didn't want to take the ferry all the way there, since it's like almost 2 hours - too long and I don't think I will make it on a ferry for that long.

Thanks, Kim, for linking up the recent thread. Where there are cruise ships, there usually are taxis.

Thanks, Kim! I sounds like a taxi would be the ticket. Especially if the trains run that infrequently. I haven't checked the train schedules yet but will do that today. Have you checked trenitalia.it? That's where I get the most detailed Italy rail schedules. San Francisco! We are practically neighbors.

For folks with full mobility, there's no need for a taxi. It's a 15-20 minute walk through interesting parts of La Spezia. Either up Via Cavour through the open market or on the pedestrian walkway of Via Prione. La Spezia is a nice city with friendly people. It would be a pity to miss the real Italy while rushing to a tourist hotspot. Rick Steves wouldn't.

I've finished my research on La Spezia and there are trains leaving for the Cinqueterre on our day of travel, which is a Saturday, at 8:30AM, 9:51AM, 10:06AM, 10:40AM & 10:50AM but not all of them stop at all the 5 villages so you have to look at the individual stops unless you want to go straight to Monterosso. Then, all of the trains are good. Hope this helps. We leave for Italy this Wednesay. Cheers!
