Cruise from Civitavecchia to cruise ship

I have purchased train tickets from Rome Termini to Civitavecchia Port. When we get to the Civi. Train station, how do we get to the cruise port?

I know it involves a couple buses and just wanting clearer directions

From the train station in Civi you can walk, lugging your suitcases, or take a local bus (€3) to the port entrance. Once there you take a (free) port shuttle to the ship terminal. The shuttle should have the cruise line name on the front. There are a bunch of You Tube videos on how to do it.

Just take a taxi. There are times to take busses ( I take a lot of busses) and there are times to take a taxi. This is a taxi time.

I agree completely with Carol. We rarely rarely take taxis. This was a taxi time. Good start to a great trip. Safe travels.

hey hey Bob
totally agree with Carol, take a taxi. just be prepared that many others cruisers are doing the same thing and I’m sure there will be crowds at Roma termini and Civitavecchia stations, some without manners/respect with pushing & pulling ( been there done that plus I’m very vocal). another consideration is all the luggage that’s going with you from the others, room/storage on train (some are overloaded/overweight) then getting off at station waiting in more lines (long??) to get to entrance to ship.
what is your threshold/stress level? we said “what this cruise vacation is costing” take a taxi from rome hotel or station. cost us 120E was so so worth it. everyone has their own opinions, up to you.
are you registered on cruise critic. register, forums, find ship and look at posts, see if someone wants to share cost of taxi to ship. good luck and enjoy your cruise

Taxi are not allowed beyond the port entrance so little value in taking a taxi from the Civi.. train station to the port entrance. Only a mile or so and walk. Nice walk along the beach. In fact, you should see your cruise ship at anchor from the train station platform. We have made that run six times via train so I think that is the easiest way but a taxi from Rome will work but it is about an hour drive and 125 to 150 euro.

@ Frank
thanks for the info about taxi. guess it’s been longer than I think, few years back our taxi took us to ship.
just some options from me, cruisers need to pack light, any mobility issues pulling luggage for that mile walk with one luggage. good luck
