Crowds in early Sept vs late Sept?

Hi everyone!
I am so excited to go to Cinque Terre but not sure to book Sept 3-5, 2024 or later Sept 17-20th. Would the later date have significantly less crowds or about the same for either date?
Thanks so much!

No. Maybe a handful fewer but it mostly depends on the cruise calendar at the La Spezia cruise port on the days you are there.

I agree you should look at the cruise calendar but there will be slightly fewer people for the later dates because Italian schools go back about 8th/10th September and Cinque Terre is popular with Italians too.

We were there a couple years ago in the second week in Sept. and it was fantastic! Your dates are mid-week, so that may be helpful. Because the towns are small and areas narrow, it can seem like it's more crowded. We found getting up early to hike between towns, was great - the trails were ours and not busy vs later in the afternoon when we had to stop a lot to share the paths. Also, if you're spending a few nights there, the towns are so lovely once all the 'day trippers' have left. (Would recommend making a dinner reservation though...restaurants do fill up.)
Whenever you go, you'll love it!
