I am trying to plan a trip in May that will start with time in Italy and then fly to Dubrovnik or Split in Croatia. Tickets from Rome to Croatia are twice the price if we fly Croatia Air vs Vueling. I've read lots of mixed reviews about Vueling. Can someone comment on the differences between the two so that I can decide if it's worth paying twice the amount? Thanks!

I've flown with both and found that both provided good service, on-time arrival and no checked luggage problems. FWIW, Skytrax Airline Reviews list Croatia Air at 7/10 and Vueling at 4/10. You'll have to decide whether the extra cost is worth it.

You could be overthinking a short flight that only last about 1 hour in the air that may or may not happen in May 2019. I 've taken Vueling (which is owned by the same company that people consider reputable airlines i.e. British Airways and iberia as a way to tap the low cost air market) twice Rome to Paris in 2016 Florence to Paris in 2015 and there was no threat of the plane crashing, the flight arrived on time and they did not lose my bag.
Buy spend whatever you feel your gut comfortable with; for example I am scared to fly one of the most successful airlines in Europe Ryanair but not based on what people say; flight reviews don't mean a thing.
