Critiques wanted for 7 day intinerary in January.

We'll be on our honeymoon and arriving by the night train in Venice on Monday Jan 17. I plan on us staying three nights in Venice, leaving Thursday morning for Florence. We'll stay 2 nights and leave saturday morning for Siena where we'll spend the night. Sunday we'll take the train to Pisa where we'll catch our flight to frankfurt. I'm wondering if the Siena part is a little too rushed. I figure if we're going to daytrip to Siena we might as well spend the night before we fly back to germany. Any critiques or info will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds well thought out to me. Make sure you have reservations in florence for the accademia and uffizi while in Florence since you will be on a tight schedule.

Another option that minimizes moving several times is to stay in Siena 3 nights and daytrip (take the bus) to Florence...I think that your plan as proposed is doable though.

If you want to spend a night in Siena, why not do it between Venice and Florence? That gives you the option to spend some additional time in Siena on Friday morning if desired. Whatever you do, be certain to check train schedules at www.trenitalia.com and make sure you can get from either Siena or Florence to the Pisa airport in plenty of time for your flight. If not, you'll need to spend your last night in Pisa.

From what I've read in Rick Steves' Italy guidebook (as wll as the posts on this site,) it's better to take the bus from Florence to Siena, because the bus drops you in town, whereas the train station is outside the walls of the city.
