We found that we needed at least two nights in any one location in order to be able to relax and enjoy it. Three nights is better than two. But one-nighters just aren't worth it, in general. So I would definitely move one or two nights from CT to Venice.

I agree with everything that was said here. It does seem like a disproportionate allocation of time in Cinque Terre vs. the cities. While it's great to be able to relax a bit more in CT, it's at the expense of getting any quality time in the cities. So, if you really want that much time in CT, I would consider dropping a city, which is never easy to do either.

Day 3 seems too busy, work back from 2 hrs before plane departure, allow time to get to airport, and you'll see how much time you actually have.My opinion only, but 3 full days/4 nights in the CT and no full days/1 night in Venice seems out of balance (evening of day 11 & partial day 12 in Venice).

My suggestions for Paris:
Day 1. be sure to see the Eiffel Tower light show, which happens after dark at each hour (& 10 minutes before or after, can't remember - you may see it from the river cruise too)
Day 2. I would eliminate the Pantheon. The Louvre takes a long time.
Day 3. Take the metro to the Arch de Triomphe, don't spend time walking down the Champs Elysee.
Either go to the top of Notre Dame, The Arch or the Eiffel Tower for a great view -- don't have to do more than one. This will save a lot of time.
As for your final free day in Paris -- sounds OK, but I would definitely do the D'Orsay, and shopping or cafe visiting in St. Germain, or hop across the river to the Marais & Ile St. Louis for great walking/shopping. Sacre Coeur is nice, but across town, might not have time or energy to do it.

In Versailles, besides the palace, I would not miss the Petite and Grand Trianons, and the Queen's hamlet particularly in nice weather. Take the tram to them -- and walk to the grand canal and then back to the palace. You don't need a tour for this. And I agree with Kent, spend more time in Venice!

The reason I chose to spend that short amount of time in Venice is becuause my husband has been before and hated Venice. I really want to see some of the sites but am trying to comprimise with him. We decided to only spend 2 days in Rome because I was told by a few people that any more days can be very exhausting. I don't know. I totally agree with too jam packed in day 3 in Paris. I will have to go over my itinerary again. Thanks.

Sarah,

Get a new husband!

You won't stay married to anyone who truly hates Venice, so give him a chance to "discover Venice" or ditch him now before you've invested too much in him.

I know Venice can be daunting, particularly when it's crowed in the daytime -- but has your husband experienced Venice by night? He might change his mind ;)
