Ciao amici
I have two and a half days to spend in one of the towns above. I'm looking for recommendations. Which do you think has the most to offer. We are especially interested in art museums, history, slow food and entertainment. We've never been to any of these cities. Your help is much appreciated.
Steve
Food is excellent in any of the three places, but it is more original in Mantua - pumpkin ravioli being the home dish; but boiled beef with sweet mostarda in Cremona is also very original, if an acquired taste (mostarda are candied fruit cured with very spicy mustard). Museums are more extensive in Mantua that for several century was the capital of an indipendent duchy. Cremona is particularly interesting if you are into violin making and its history.
Mantova. Take a daytrip to Sabbioneta.
On my last trip, I chose Mantua, partly because the Michelin Green Guide rated it 2 stars versus 1 star for the others. That probably makes it a better fit for your 2.5 days. I was definitely happy with the visit.
