Will be arriving in the Amalfi Coast later this month and have reached out to numerous Private Car Transfer's and all are requesting to be paid in cash. Is the normal or something that has started after the pandemic. I don't want to carrying around a huge amount of cash as I prefer using a credit card. If anyone has been recently, and can let me know I would appreciate
Our private driver in 2017 for the Amalfi Coast required a cash (Euro) payment to the driver and we went booked through a reputable company. So yea sound like it's normal, I really did not even question it.
We've booked a car in Amalfi for later this month and they also asked to be paid in cash. I'm fine with that. I'd rather the driver gets all the money instead of the credit card company getting their cut.
I’ve always (15 years of travel to Italy)paid cash for this service, as well as taxis.
all are requesting to be paid in cash.
This way they can cheat on taxes and save the credit card fees. Private drivers who do not work on the meter MUST accept credit cards.
Just ask 'em "is this legal?"
We used this company on 2019 for transfers in the area
Paid in advance with credit card

I didn’t check details on their site but assume they still take credit cards
I believe they are now listed on all the “Sorrento Insider” websites
