Covid Tests in Venice

Any recommendation for Covid test locations in Venice? I know they are available at the airport. Thanks in advance.

We did it in August at the train station. There was no cost. We got there at 7 am and they opened at 8 am. We were out by 8:45 am (seven of us). I would think lines would be much shorter in October than August.

BethFL, was that the antigen test or the PCR test?

Ah, thanks. I need PCR, but that might not be the case for the OP.

The Marriott properties also have an arrangement with a local company and a nurse comes to the hotel daily for PCR or anitigen testing. You do have to make an appointment. We made ours same day. I believe it was €65.

I am going to Italy in December, and we are flying out of Venice. Does anyone know if bringing our own home antigen test can work for our flights home (we are also vaccinated)? And if so, what do we actually show or attest to, e.g. do we show the actual test strip? I was thinking of Binax Now, which Walgreens sells.

From my limited experience, the airlines are looking for a document signed by a health care professional that had the very specific type of done. I don’t this the otc Walgreens test provides that. Our Venice airport experience was easy. Just allow a little bit of extra time. Tests are also available at the train station.

JJ, the BinaxNow remote-proctored antigen test is accepted by Delta Airlines and CDC for travel back to USA from Venice, at least according to my experience in early September. However the BinaxNow now test for sale in drugstores is a non-proctored test as far as I know and would not meet the requirements. The BinaxNow remote-proctored antigen test can be ordered online… I don’t have the website handy right now but I think it’s OptumRX.

In case anyone is looking for PCR (tampone molecolare) test locations, I have found a couple in the "lagoon" area of Venice and have been emailing with them. (It's likely these places offer antigen tests, too, but many, many other places offer antigen tests, including the train station.)

One is near the Rialto bridge. https://bianalisi.it/struttura/sherman-venezia-ponte-rialto
They are offering the PCR tests only on weekday mornings.
Their (Google translated) response to me is as follows: "The molecular swab has a cost of 60 euros and the result will be available within 36-48 hours. We perform PCR swabs only in the morning (until 09:30), on appointment, from Monday to Friday, at the Rialto headquarters."

The other offers the test on Saturday mornings, also (which is what I need--sigh), but it is much more expensive. https://www.bielohub.it/ Here is their (Google translated) response to me: "Good morning for two appointments for the pcr test for Saturday [date redacted] we can have for 10:00 am. Do I confirm them? Here is some information: EXAMINATION RESULT PRICE PCR BUFFER – molecular By the evening of the next day 112.00 € We remind you that the result is in Italian and English and can be downloaded from our website www.bielohub.it. We kindly ask you to pay attention to what is the most valid time for the execution of your test."

Of course, the tests are offered at the airport, but must be performed before noon in order to have the results before 8:00 pm the next day, and the cost to guarantee a next-day result is also $112 Euro (in addition to the time and cost of going to the airport a day ahead of time).

In addition, there are several locations on the mainland that are less expensive (50 Euro), but, from what I can tell, the closest of these to the "tourist" part of Venice is about 30 km away and would take well over an hour to get to by public transportation--meaning it would take about 3 hours or so out of one's day, in total). We are flying EasyJet out of Venice (to London and then taking another flight to Canada from London), and EJ sent us information and links to book tests at these locations. So, if anyone else is travelling by EasyJet, several weeks before your flight, they will provide a list of places in different cities to get tested (there are lists for the antigen test and for the PCR test) and an easy way to book. Unfortunately, the Venice PCR test locations aren't that convenient, but that might not be true of other cities in Italy and Europe, for anyone else reading this.

Hope that helps!
