Covid testing Rome Airport

Has anyone done their return covid test at the Rome airport site in terminal 3? Lines? Any issues?

I am in Orvieto & will see if I can get tested here tomorrow, else I’ll need to do it in Rome either near the train station or at the airport.

Airport seems easiest for me as I’ll be spending the last night at the airport hotel & can do it before checking in to the hotel, just don’t want to run into delays & have to rush back to somewhere else!

I can't comment on airport testing but depending on your time in Rome it should be easy at a pharmacy there. I got my rapid test at one on Via Corso last Thursday 2 days before my departure. 10 minute wait to be tested and results in 15 minutes. Cost was 22 euros.

I too, just tested in Rome at a Pharmacy, with similar wait times. very quick. There is testing at Termini by the Red Cross, but any lines I saw at train stations was very long. There is testing at the airport, or at least one person at check-in did not have a test and was directed to the test station. I guess if you leave ample time, that should work; I just felt better having it over and done with the day before.

If you do get tested in Orvieto would you please post the name of the pharmacy? I have seen indications that the Farmacia del Moro does covid testing, but it would really help to have a name from personal experience. Thanks!.

Ellen - Farmacia del Moro is the place! I started with a pharmacy in the new town & they said no for today - had to have an appointment. Farmacia del Moro took care of me in no time! Negative test, uploaded to VeriFly app & just waiting for the confirmation back.

Tomorrow will be much more relaxed now that the test is done & I don’t need to stress over finding a place.

Thank you so much for confirming! My sister and her husband have a house in Orvieto and we want to get tested there “just in case” there is a need to quarantine. Safe travels, Robin!

So rapid covid tests for the return from Italy to USA are allowed? And VeriFly is the app to be used?
But PCR tests are required for getting into Italy?
Are green passes necessary to get, or is our white vaccination card enough? Thanks so much in advance for responses.

Ldodd2 - I did rapid both ways. When they ask for “green pass” you can show a the white CDC vaccination card & your passport. I had no troubles at all showing the CDC card & passport
. They were accepted everywhere I was asked.

And VeriFLY is the app that American Airlines uses. I think there are others for some of the other airlines.

Delta uses no app to upload results, they just do it the old fashioned way, look at the results when you check-in.

But either PCR or Rapid are allowed for both going to Italy and returning to the US.

Could anyone recommend a specific English-friendly pharmacy in Trastevere for a rapid-antigen test? Thanks!
