Does anyone know where I can get COVID testing in Rome? I will be returning to the United Staes around Oct 4.
In many Pharmacies, expect to pay between € 22 and € 48. Better booking in advance.
The Red Cross makes tests for free at Rome Termini station. As it's free, the queues are long.
I think you can get a test also at FCO airport, but you can easily check on the Airport's official site.
(I'm starting to suspect that US pharmacies do not make Covid tests).
This site lists several pharmacies in Rome administering the rapid antigen test https://www.salutelazio.it/elenco-farmacie-che-eseguono-tamponi-antigenici-rapidi-o-test-sierologici
Make an appointment and ask for a printout of the results.
Yes Dario, pharmacies in the US provide rapid Covid test. The full cost is (with major pharmacy chains) about $140. The cost however is generally fully covered by the private insurance plans (or various government insurance plans), but there might be out of pockets deductibles with some plans.
In Rome, the pharmacies doing testing are easily identifiable from their tents set up outside. There were two near our hotel in the Trastevere. Train stations also have the Red Cross tents, but there have been very long lines at all we saw.
I will add, I think waiting until arrival at the airport is pushing it, for me. Just another unknown delay, I just want to arrive, check my bags and relax until the flight. Heading to a pharmacy, filling out a simple form, paying my 22 euro, and getting results the day before will be the best option for me.
What about pcr in Rome? Walking from Trevi area?
I'm currently in Rome and went to the Red Cross (Crocce Rossa) station at long term parking at the airport (we had a rental car that we were returning so we went by car but there's also a shuttle from the airport). There was no line and we were able to get the rapid test with English results within 15 minutes (they give you a print out). The cost was 14 euro.
