Covid testing in Rome for return flight to the United States

Hello. My family and I will be flying back to the US in mid June - from Rome FCO, with an overnight layover in London. I would like for us to get the Rapid Antigen test in Rome on the day of our departure, rather than wait to do it at the airport. We are staying at an apartment near the Colosseum - on Via San Giovanni in Laterano - so it would be great if we could find a testing site near that location. Does anyone know of such a place, and, if so, should I call to make reservations ahead of time? Thank you for any information that you can give me. Linda

Assuming the negative Covid test is still required in mid-June, pharmacies in Italy offer the antigen test without appointments. A hotel near your apartment will know of a neighborhood pharmacy offering the tests. The test can be done any time the day before your flight departs London for the US,
Presumably. you will have time to get the test done in Rome on the day you leave. for FCO. The airline will be asking for the test results when you go to the London airport.

Have you already made a search for pharmacies close to your apartment on gmaps? I doubt there is none and in Rome they may be still doing tests because of tourists

We were just in Sicily, while not Rome, it sure looked like every pharmacy (Farmacia) did COVID tests. I would just pick one and walk in. If they don't do them, I'm sure they'd direct you somewhere else. I tried to do some googling, myself, and I found it difficult due to my poor Italian and not having a complete sense of the area.

In Catania we walked into a random pharmacy, were tested immediately and results were ready in 15 minutes. If you are stressed, at the beginning of your stay, ask at a convenient pharmacy.

Thank you. That is what I agree is the best solution - just waiting till we get to Rome, find a nearby pharmacy that gives the test, & then we’ll all get tested there the morning of our departure. We will have time because our flight doesn’t leave from FCO until late afternoon. Again, thank u very much.

We just took tests in Rome on Tuesday for our Wednesday flight home. We scoped out pharmacies on our walks the days before to have options of places to go near the apartment we rented. We were on Via de Serpenti, which was maybe a 15 minute walk from the Colosseum. The pharmacy closest to our flat on that street was having problems on Tuesday morning so we opted not to wait to see if they resolved it and went to our backup on Via Nazionale halfway between the apartment and the Republicca metro station.

We didn't have reservations - just walked in, filled out the form, paid, tested and had our results in about 15 minutes. The five people in front of us all tested negative as did we :)

Great to hear. Were u able to use a credit card for payment, or do the pharmacies require cash? Thank you for your help. So relieved that it was that easy. Linda

I also wanted to ask if you recall what the pharmacy charged for a rapid antigen test

We tested Thursday In Trastevere
22 euros and used a credit card ( although they were apparently having problems with their cc machine the day before, so you might want to have cash just in case)

No appointment needed.
20 min for results
You will fill out a form and need your passports
