Covid testing and layovers

If I am flying out of Rome to JFK with a 3 hour layover in Dublin, can I do my covid test in Dublin? We are flying aer lingus.

The answer is No
You have to test the day before you depart for US
So you must test in Rome

You do not have to test the day before you leave for the US. You can also test on the day you leave. That’s what we did coming back from Spain in November.

The thing you have to think about is — what if your flight out of Rome leaves late and your 3 hour layover is reduced to 1 hour? You may not have time to take the test and then you will not be able to get on the plane to JFK. I would also ask the airline to make sure they are okay with that scenario or if they need to see the negative Covid test before you board the plane in Rome.

I edited my post

I don’t think the airlines is going to let them board in Rome without the test, especially if it’s all one ticket

So easy to just test at a pharmacy day before
What if you tested positive mid flight? What a pain

If your flights are on one ticket, you will not be able to get your boarding pass in Rome without a negative Covid test taken within one day of flight.

Thank you for the replies. Yes, this makes total sense. If it’s purchased as one ticket then I will need a covid test to board. Thank you for the help.
