Covid-related travel documents required for Italy

Here’s my understanding regarding current Covid-related travel requirements to Italy until December 15th, 2021 (may be updated afterwards) -

Because of the recent uptick of concern, Italy, as well as a number of other countries, requires 3 things:
1. A “green pass” from EU citizens or a CDC card from US citizens verifying complete vaccination.
2. Filling out a digital or paper “passenger locator form” prior to arrival
3. A negative swab test within 72 hours of arrival in Italy and return arrival in USA

The “lockdown” or prohibition currently just applies to travelers from certain countries in Africa.

Here’s a good current resource https://www.italia.it/en/covid19

Please let me know if you have a better or more current resource.

We’ll keep our fingers and traveling toes crossed 🙂.

Yes, we just did this two days ago in Rome. It’s any time the day before your flight and a pharmacy is usually easy to find —- however, we had to look harder than usual because it was a holiday (the Feast of the Immaculate Conception) and I would imagine that a Sunday might also make an open pharmacy a bit more difficult to locate. It cost 22 euro each.

Has it always been the case that a fully vaccinated traveler needs a COVID test before arriving in Italy?

No
For a short time during late summer just vaccination was enough
Changed in early Sept as I recall

Thank you, Christine. Starting to get my ducks in order here for our March trip and the last time I paid attention was around that time.
