I know there's a similar thread but didn't want to blow their post up with a different question so....Anybody have a link to existing protocols for Italy, and other countries? ALSO - Plans here to fly into Lisbon, stay for a day, then following day travel on to Venice...will that present timing issues for tests prior to departing? ....and I need to find out about Portugal.
The best resource is always the most official one, so just Google up websites from the health authorities in those countries.
CNN and Points Guy also keep running lists but again, they're good but not official.
Current rules for Italy, which could change at any time.
For entering the country from the US:
You can change to List C if you share coming from Portugal, but List D still applies because you would have been in the US within the previous 14 days.
Green Pass/Super Green Pass rules for Italy ( this addresses the vaccination documentation you need to enter shops, restaurants, hotels, etc. it is in Italian and I do not see a way to change it to English on my iPad.
Just a heads up re: Lisbon, we were planning a similar layover in late March. My understanding is that any layover less than 24 hrs is ‘transiting’ and currently restricted to a specific area of the airport and we can’t leave.
If you are in Portugal longer than 24 hrs you should be fine.
And yes, a lengthy layover is posing a challenge with respect to a negative test within 24 hrs of departure (get on the plane) and the Italian required < 24 hrs of arrival.
Yes the airport layover time made it a kind of marathon to Venice so the thought was well we've never been to Lisbon so spend a day there. Leisurely day in Lisbon would be nice. Trick would be to stay more than 24 hrs then I guess locate a place for an antigen test in Lisbon. Thanks for that feedback. I've seen before that even some hotels provide testing services but would have to look into that.
