Covid PCR Test from USA to Italy - Question

I will be travelling from USA to Italy. My flight is on 24th 3 pm and arriving in Venice on 25th 4 pm with 8 hours layover in Munich Germany. I was reading the Covid requirements. I booked the PCR test on Dec 21st 5 pm - which is with in 72 hours of my start from USA.

https://it.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/
Beginning on December 16, 2021 and valid until January 31, 2022, travelers from the United States may enter Italy if they present a negative molecular PCR test result carried out within 72 hours of arrival or a rapid antigen test result carried out within 24 hours of arrival

Should i move my PCR Test to 22nd 5 pm. I am afraid with the holidays, the results may not come on time? Any thoughts.

Thanks,

Test must be 72 hours or 24 hours from ARRIVAL
As you have test booked now you are testing too early so yes- rebook to 12/22

I traveled to Italy in November. I did the Rapid Antigen test, which were 15 minute results, 24 hours before departure. (I tested on Friday, flew on Saturday and arrived on Sunday in Turin.)
At the same time, I did the PCR test and I received an email on Sunday afternoon while connecting in Paris to Italy.

My opinion is that if Italy/US is allowing a Rapid Antigen Test , then I would go ahead and do that test.

Unfortunately, the USA is very behind in making tests readily available.
Just my thoughts. Good luck.

My at home proctored test was accepted, and it is a rapid antigen test. They ship them overnight, so that might be an option.

Good luck.

Thanks, I will schedule a Rapid test one day before travel and keep my PCR test 2 days in advance.
