Covid is generally low in Italy reporting about 12% of the cases in the US last week with about 18% of the population.

In 2023 masks were still required on public transportation until October and people generally complied. In 2024 I saw few masks - generally on older people out shopping - probably a little higher than in the states but pretty much the same from what I observed.
Just like the states you can wear one if you feel you should and no one cares, but it is not the general rule.

Italy has single payer healthcare of course so the healthcare is centrally organized, but I don't know what their exact treatments they tend to use. I believe there were some threads recently about Paxlovid specifically if you want to search for them.

Hope that helps,

You’ll occasionally see people wearing masks on busses and trains and occasionally on the streets. People are usually more aware of it than here in the USA but there are no specific rules or regulations one needs to follow. Just be safe and aware of your surroundings in general.

I live in Italy. People don't really talk much about Covid anymore. If you've got any sort of bad cold or cough it's good manners to wear a face mask on public transport or in supermarkets but not everyone does.

My doc said you won’t get paxlovid in much of Europe. He gave me a scr to take. I didn’t even ask.

It like in the US. A low incidence rate, generally no masking.

As for Paxlovid, you likely would not receive it as liberally as you do in the US. In most of Europe, it is used as it was intended, in the event of a serious case.
