Greetings! My granddaughter and I will be on the Rick Steves Italy tour starting in Venice on June 11 and really looking forward to it! Is it necessary to bring the original covid shot record cards or will copies suffice? I want to be prepared for any eventuality. After the tour with Rick Steves we'll be going to France. Over and back on KLM we will have a long layover in Amsterdam and may leave the airport for a short tour.
Proof of vaccination is no longer required by Italian authorities to enter the country, or to enter museums, restaurants, or anything.
To return to the US, US authorities no longer require US citizens and permanent residents to show proof of vaccination to board a plane.

Bring your original card
I wondered the same thing. Personally I cannot find my originals and have screen shots and prints. I was inoccuated 4 times… I misplaced them getting ready for this trip. I asked via email and still got the standard reply. If I must show original cards,…… 😕

Usually the pharmacy/doctor where you got your shots can generate a new card for you.
I contacted RS office directly about your Covid card for the tour’s purpose. This is their response:
“You do not need take the original certificate on tour with you. A photo on your phone is just fine. You can also print the record from your health service or, if you have a photocopy of the original card, that works too. If this requirement changes, we’ll be sure to let you know.”
