Looking for recommendations for B and Bs in the countryside near Agrigento, Sicily.
No recommendations from me as this will be my first trip to Sicily, but I can tell you that we have chosen to stay at the Inn B&B San Marco outside Agrigento, and I'm looking forward to it. We may have never traveled to Sicily, but we have traveled all over most of Italy at least a dozen times in the last 15 years. I'm not a fussy person, take most things in stride and as part of the overall travel experience with so many trips under my belt, so I had to chuckle when (upon confirming my reservation) the proprietor wrote me an email and described the property. He said (I'm completely paraphrasing) , in the nicest possible language, "This is a country property accessed by a skinny dirt road, and it can a bit hard to find, so here are explicit directions (gave directions)don't rely on your GPS. We have a beautiful view of the Valley of the Temples, especially when lit up at night. A stay here comes with all the beauty and solitude of the country and farm life, but also the sounds of the country (animals, birdsespecially roosters and peacocks, which are apparently allowed to roam freely). We are only a few kilometers from Agrigento when you wish to dine out or shop. If you don't like the country and all that comes with it, please don't come and complain about the lack of entertainment and proximity to cafes, or the roosters crowing; instead, we will be happy to change your reservation to a sister hotel in the central portion of Agrigento."
