Could this side trip from Rome happen?.....Most likely with exhaustion.

Planning my Italy trip for Nov/Dec. I know that a Naples/Pompei side trip from Rome is do-able. But I am also very curious to see the Blue Grotto in Capri. If I left early enough from Rome and weather permitting (end of Nov), could the 3 be a possibility? In Naples, I want to see the Archaeology Museum and have a slice of pizza. In Pompei, I want to see the ruins/sites, in Capri I want to tour the Blue Grotto. Has anyone ever done this as a side trip from Rome all in one day? I do not have plans to stay in Sorrento either.

I would limit it to Naples and Pompeii. Not only would you just be checking off the three sites and not doing any of them justice, but there are no guarantees that you'll be able to see the Blue Grotto on any given day due to high sea conditions.

It is impossible to do all you want to do in one day. To see the ruins of Pompeii and the museums is enough to fill one day. Going to the Blue Grotto from Rome is enough to fill one day. Trying to do all three is at least an overnight. If you can't do an overnight you'll need to pick what is most important to you and save the other for your next trip.

Yeah, I figured that it would most likely be impossible. But figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. I will just stick to my original side trip plan of Naples and pompei.

Kelly, when I went to Pompeii the 1st time, we got there just in time to get a free tour, we just tipped the guide. I don't remember the time, probably around 10, but check the website to see if they say anything. It was 1.5 hours long and a nice quick intro which was what we wanted, as we had to drive back to Pisa that day. They also have audio tours of 2,4 and 6 hours length. Like the Louvre, you can spend a couple hours there or all day, and even many days. Great place!
