what is an estimated cost of family vacation from USA to Venice for July 2026 for 7 days ( per person - moderate cost)
Number of people , age, type of hotel preferred, foodie, into wine, etc??? Flying from? (Large market vs small market airport.) Check GoogleFlights to track price of flights.
You just haven't supplied enough info.
Airfare per person depends on where you're coming from, but let's say $1200pp. Hotel depends on how many per room and quality of room, let's say $250/night per 2 person room. Food, $100pp/day. Attractions depends on what you do and how you do it, let's says $100pp/day. This could include daily transportation cost. Misc expenses? So by my math, perhaps $550pp/day. You could go higher and you could go lower. I'm betting if I worked out my typical trip it would be about $250pp/day. A one week stay can increase the daily average cost of flights compared to a 2-3 week stay. And who knows the daily food cost if you have teenage boys.
What Pat said. You’re going to have to so some homework. Put together a spread sheet. Check google flights and booking.com for an idea of those costs, food costs will depend on what your family prefers to eat. Then you have daily activities to include. All kinds of variables because everyone is different. If you look at the RS Best of Rome 7 day tour it’s $2400-$2800 pp depending on time of year and that doesn’t include air fare or all your meals.
You can also look at the cost of renting an apartment for a week. That way you can get the right number of bedrooms for your family and have a kitchen to do many of your own meals.
This strikes me as a very odd question. Are you proposing flying to Europe for 7 days just to stay in Venice but have done no research at all - even airfare since you know where you're flying into and out of but we don't?
This strikes me as a the prompt question for building a database of answers or training a bot or building a database. And this is from a brand new account with no punctuation or capitalization in the question.
Smells fishy.

"Moderate" to whom? Elon Musk/Jeff Bezos or a grade school teacher in Mississippi ?

@Tod
so many one post wonders lately. asking off the wall and odd questions/requests with no info about it or them.
totally agreed with you, and odds they won't be back
aloha
just going to Venice - trying to see if 2.5K/person is reasonable budget for trip flying out of CVG - - thanks for responses - sorry if question was too vague
looks like 3.5K closer to budget / pp
The problem is you didn't specify time of year, grouping of people - does everyone need their own room or will they be sharing, what you want to do and what your idea of luxury versus price is.
I'd recommend jumping on Google Flights to see some airfares - looks like CVG>Venice $750-1000 for coach in May but time of year will effect this.
So that leaves about $1,600 per person or $228/day for lodging, adventures and food. This seems like an okay budget if some people are sharing rooms and you don't want fancy accommodations. Rick figures about $200/day for people rooming together so you're right in that range.
But Venice can swell the budget with rooms being expensive in season, fancier hotels charging big bucks, gondola rides are many people's bucket lists and those aren't cheap (but shared costs make this less) and the dollar to euro conversion is costing you ~8% so budgeting will be necessary, but that seems a reasonable estimate.
Hope that helps,

has to be July 2026 because of work - need min 4 rooms - due to family - 5 adults / 5 kids
Family of 5 here, usually rent an Airbnb or a B&B, depending on situation. We stayed in a lovely rental in Venice for 250/nt. For 5 ppl. We then buy food to make for breakfast, as I find the constant search for food all day long tedious. I like to have an egg and toast if I want instead of a croissant or something more for 10 euro pp. (plus everyone wakes at different times and eats breakfast at different times, so for me, having snacks and easy breakfast food on hand makes the day easier). For lunch and dinner we do not go for a sit-down affair for all meals. I know this is anathema to some (in Italy you are supposed to linger over meals, coffee, etc), but for lunch we tend to prefer a picnic-style approach, where we buy something from a grocery (many of them have prepared food that you can purchase by weight, so we purchase a collection of things and go sit somewhere amazing outdoors. Then for dinner we go to a restaurant and have the full experience. So meals for us are definitely NOT 100pp per day! That said, we travel for weeks so maybe the one week is a splurge and you want to go all in: every meal an experience, all of the tours, etc.
It all depends on goals and the type of traveler you are. As a comic aside, my dear friend enjoys luxury. She traveled with her family of 5 the same summer I did (this was years ago). Toward the end we were comparing notes about what we learned (about planning). She said, "well, I learned there's a difference between a 4 star and 5 star hotel..." To this day, it is a joke in our family (we have never stayed in either a 4 or 5 star hotel and have no interest).
I checked booking.com for this July for vacation rentals to get a rough idea of what it would be like for 2026. If the ten of you rent a decent vacation property (1 or 2 apartments), I would estimate that the average accommodation cost will be about +/-USD$100pp. You can always go cheaper or more expensive. You have to look for yourself.
If the $2500pp budget excludes airfare, I think you should easily stay under budget. If that budget also includes the cost of airfare, it will be much tighter.
Lodging ( 4 rooms) $5k-$9k Not much selection at a lower cost and plenty of choices even higher.
Air - ~$12k ( Standard coach)
A $3500 per person budget leaves~ $200 per person per day for food and admissions, etc.
$2500 per person means keeping a closer eye on spending;
Your budget should be fine. .
Venice is a relatively expensive city to visit, especially the lodging.
PADUA— just 25 minutes away from. Venice by train —is a great alternative place to base yourselves. Accommodations are much less costly, you often can stay in Palazzos ( historic mansions) in Padua for less than a budget hotel in Venice. Check Booking.com for listings.
