I am arriving at the Camucia Cortona train station on a Saturday in late August. ( 6 of us) The company from which I rented a house in Cortona says there are no taxis at the train station any more nor can they give me transport to our house which is just outside of Cortona ( too far to walk with luggage)
Does anyone know if this is true or any ideas for transportation from the train station to about 1 miles out of town ( Cortona) . Thank you.
You will certainly need a rental car if you are staying outside of Cortona. Arrange to pick up a car and drive to rental near Cortona. We spent a wonderful week near Cortona. We always book our cars through AutoEurope.
Thank you. Yes. We have stayed in Cortona before and are find walking once we get to the house. Just need to get there from the train station. Thank you again.
If you google “taxi Cortona”, various companies offering taxi and transfer services come up. I’d start there and see if you can find reviews for any of them. You should be able to pre-arrange for a driver to meet you at the station.
There might be a bus, at least to the centre of Cortona, depends what time you arrive:

I'm disappointed that the company you rented from isn't more helpful. You'd think they'd WANT to help people get there from the train station. I think I'd try contacting the Cortona tourist information office for help.
