cortona

Hello

We will be staying in Cortona for a few days and I remember someone mentioning someone ( one or more people) that do cooking classes there but i didnt save it , nor can I find post . Do looking for suggestions , just a simple pasta making class would be great nothing too fancy. Also I think I remember a mention of a ceramic making place near by but I cant find that either , any ideas ? Lastly and Ive asked about this before but didnt get any info has anyone gone to or know anything about the large lake that is near by?? Thanks Sue

I can't help with the cooking or ceramic classes, but the large lake you mentioned is probably Lake Trasimeno, which can be seen from Cortona.

Rick's Italy book recommends this cooking school in Cortona, with either 3-hour or 5-hour options, closed Mondays, reserve ahead: http://www.labucaccia.it/en/index.php#.

Probably the best search term to use above is just "Cortona," which will give you a lot, but adding the word "ceramics" actually may not help.

Deruta is likely the place you are thinking of for ceramics. Also, there are boats that will bring you out to the islands in Lake Trasimeno. Not far away is Perugia which is worth a stop and a day. It is a wonderful medieval city and Assisi is just a bit further by train.
