Taking family and 2 young children for 12 days to Cortona (renting a villa) and then Cinque Terra for 3 nights.
Questions: things to do and day trips around Cortona, next which town should we stay in on the CT or Levanto? We will be 8, 6 adults, 2 kids. Ideas for hotel, or airbnb in or around the CT?
We would love to have a cooking class in our villa in Cortona, any recommendations? Lots to think about, thank you.

which town should we stay in on the CT or Levanto?
The big question is when is your holiday? The CT books up far in advance of high season so if your trip is around that time, finding a place for 8 people could be a challenge. I would worry less about which town and just get onto, say, www.booking.com and see what's still available in any of the CT 5 or Levanto. Others may have additional resources for finding accommodations.
Of the 5 CT villages, tiny Corniglia should probably be your last choice as you need to take a small bus from the train station up to the village. 8 of you plus luggage might be difficult to get onto the same bus at the same time.
