Cortona and Siena

I went to Orvieto, Cortona, and Siena in early to mid October with day trips to vineyards in the area (Montepulciano, Montalcino) and the weather and crowds were great. It was a great time to travel. What is the weather like the first 2 weeks in September? And the crowds? Would it be comparable or a lot warmer and busier? Thank you

In 2011 we stayed outside of Cortona for a week early September. It was hot, but the swimming fool at our rental was great to come back to every afternoon. I don’t remember crowds being awful in The three towns you mention. October might not be as hot, and probably less tourists.

Early September is likely to be hot. Sometimes you get short intense summer storms, which makes it even worse when the sun comes out again (more humid).

September is nice in Tuscany. Crowd should be ok, Nothing comparable to August. I find myself well when heat is between 26-35 Celsius and that’s what you would get. Check how much that is in farenheit and see if that’s ok with you. What are you used to?
There might be storms that is true, but not everyday and it does not last long. if it happens, just take this time to take shelter in a bar for a nice Italian coffee or have an aperitivo around 6 pm.
