Hello! Our family of four (mom, dad, boys 15 and 17 yrs old) wants to visit the Dolomites the summer. I have a tour company trying to convince me that Cortina is a better choice for us than Ortisei. We’re into charming villages, family eateries, walkability. We are very casual people (not into fussy and gourmet anything) and honestly as the mom I’m most concerned with making sure we stay somewhere with ample teenager-friendly food choices (pizza, pasta, steak, etc.) and nice, roomy accommodations that don’t break the bank. Thoughts? Advice? Hotel recommendations??? I’m also open to the idea of apartments or Air B n Bs. Thanks!!!
Ortisei looks like a good fit for your family.
A lot of construction anticipated in Cortina ahead of the opening ceremonies for the February 2026 Winter Olympics. That may tip the scale toward Ortisei.
Ortiseii for sure!
Thank you all! Any favorite lodging choices given our family size and ages?
There actually is a “ Hotel Hell” for kicks but “Mountain Living Apartment Idylia” on Booking.com looks good.
A few choices in Ortisei that do not have half-pension (many do): Hotel Garni Walter, Villa Aurelia, Gran Tubla (apartments).
A lot of apartments are not equipped for short stays, so be aware of that. They are usually rented for multiple weeks or even for the entire season.
