Cortina d'Ampezzo

Can anyone recommend a reasonable B&B or 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom condo here; thought we'd spend a day or two prior to our Venice to Rome Cruise?

Thanks,
Jean

The ones downtown Cortina are over $300 for 1 night; that is not in our retirement budget...there are some that are not in town but for 1 night we'd like to be central.
Thanks anyway,
Jean

Cortina is like the Aspen of the Dolomites...besides Bolzano it's THE most expensive place to stay in that region. If you go about 90 minutes west to Ortisei you will be in the best part of the mountains. You can take the gondola up to the Seiser Alm, one of the prettiest places in the Dolomites. The town is small and picturesque and there is lots to see in the area.
Driving from there to Venice is lovely...you can stop in Verona for lunch on the way - about a 3 hour drive if you don't stop. But stopping for lunch in the old town of Verona at one of the outdoor restaurants on the Plaza Bra with a view of the ancient Roman colosseum is worth it!
